Morning Blend on Mater Dei Radio: “Ease Financial Anxiety”
Research finds around 70% of Americans experience some level of stress around their finances. How can we help ease this?
What does financial independence really mean? Here are the things that qualify a person to be so:
- You do no stress about paying your bills
- You are not reliant on the government or your family financially
- You have cash in your bank account to cover emergencies (within reason)
- Choice and control of what you do for work
The last one is what most people struggle to reach, and often never do in their life.
Most people don’t realize how much little decisions made, at even earlier stages of life, quietly impact their financial future.
I encourage young people to get creative when it comes to college! Trying to limit the amount of student debt you walk away with can significantly impact your future. Also, go for the cheaper used car! I’m not saying you should buy a car that will be in the shop every week just because the initial cost was barely anything. But, consider maintenance costs, gas costs, etc. when making a larger purchase.
Ultimately, slowing down and thinking through your purchases, even as a young adult, can make a huge impact on your future. Be allergic to debt!
