Morning Blend on Mater Dei Radio: “Market Volatility”
The topic on everybody’s mind: How to navigate a volatile market.
The recent discussion, implementation, and subsequent change on the tariff plan has caused fluctuations in the market. It’s difficult to predict what will happen, especially this early on.
Recession risk is higher, especially since the market had already been showing signs of a shift downward.
The stock market will always shift downward before the economy does. Oftentimes, this is a sign of a larger change coming.
This is the time to assess where you are allocated. You need to ask yourself if you can handle a down market and potential loss for a period of time. If you are close to retirement (1-3 years on either side of it), you should look closely at your allocation.
If you determine a change is necessary, look at how much you have in stocks. You don’t want to wipe out a 1/3 of your portfolio because of a downturn. Planning ahead and making changes now can be the difference between running low on funds down the road or living comfortably in your retirement years.
